IF you have the full Adobe Acrobat application you might be able to do some editing provided the document has not been password protected.

They open in Adobe Acrobat reader on most home PCs and as the name says this application is a reader/viewer ONLY.

They are also secured so YOU can't edit them or Alter them without special and expensive software What you have is a PDF file and these are specially designed documents with their own fonts embedded so they render on ANY PC/Mac as they were published. YOU WON"T be able too coz you haven't got the library simple ! Go and find it in your font directory and then try to set it in say MS Word and generate a document. When a unique font like Mylius is used in a web document and is NOT installed, your computer will attempt to render in its default font and if the font is really special then you might see some major errors in the viewed document so its best not to do really out-landished things with fonts especially on the Web !īy the way if you are really cleaver or got access to a Mac you can try to design you own with the right software but be very carefully coz bad/corrupted fonts will absolutely wreck your computer !įor those above who state that the font is loaded when you download the timetable NO IT AIN"T ! They also come in differing flavors(family group) san-serif/ serif etc. Those that are installed are there so you can view web pages or basically so you can draft documents. Some fonts are license free however, but generally its a safe bet that if used in publishing YOU WILL need to fork out somewhere ! If you need them for professional reasons you HAVE to buy them !ĪND its not just few £ either some libraries and licenses can cost my company literally £ hundreds per license per terminal !įor instance if you are designing publicity for BA they will sell you or more likely your printers the font library but ONLY for use in their authorized works.Īny other use is strictly illegal and IS theft.ĭownloading of fonts from dubious web sites or swapping from PtP sites IS ALSO theft JUST AS SWAPPING music etc.Įven the use of installed fonts on your computer can break copyright if used for printing and publishing anything without the requisie license for the said font ! Fonts are NEVER free they ARE intellectual property of the designer/owner if correctly copyrighted and their use is via licensing.įont libraries and licenses can bought and the Agfa site referred to above is a typical source!
